Presented by Halifax Public Libraries, Tastes Like Home was a project focused on sharing food heritage of both new and founding cultures of Nova Scotia, including Mi’kmaq, Acadian, African Nova Scotian, and Gaelic.

The project reached a diverse audience of all ages through workshops, presentations, events, and resource-sharing. From food security to recipe-collecting, community conversations to video storytelling—there was something for everyone.

The success of Tastes Like Home speaks to the fact that our community is hungry to learn about food and culture. Food brings people together. Culture is celebrated through sharing food, passing on tips, and preserving memories. We at Halifax Public Libraries are excited to plan more food-based programs with you.

Tastes like Home is supported by the Province of Nova Scotia in partnership with the Department of Communities, Culture, and Heritage.
